Dried flowers in the bathroom: what works, what doesn't

Dried flowers in the bathroom: what works, what doesn't

Our most common question: "Can I put a bouquet in the bathroom?" The answer isn't a simple yes/no.

Why it seems bad

Steam, humidity, temperature swings — enemies of dried plants. They absorb moisture, go soft, mold.

Why it can work

Modern bathrooms have exhaust fans. If yours works and you use it, humidity returns to normal in 20–30 min. Most of the day it's a normal dry room.

Rules

  1. Away from water sources — near the mirror, on the counter, on towel cabinets.
  2. Working exhaust required.
  3. Leave door open after showering.
  4. Pick humidity-tolerant species.

Best for bathrooms

Eucalyptus (natural wax protects leaves, smells great with steam), lavender, dry branches, feather grass.

Avoid

Pampas grass (absorbs moisture like a sponge), gypsophila (soft white flowers mold first), dried roses, wheat sheaves.

Trend: "shower bouquet"

Small eucalyptus bunch tied to the shower head. Steam activates essential oils — sauna effect. Replace every 6 months.

In bathroom conditions dried flowers live 12–18 months (vs 2–4 years in regular rooms). Budget for more frequent replacement.
