The kitchen is one of the hardest places for dried flowers. Humidity, temperature, grease particles, food smells. But it's also where people spend a lot of time. A compromise guide.
Kitchen hazards
Steam (humidity spikes), heat zones, grease particles floating in air, food smells getting absorbed.
Where to place
Windowsill (not opposite stove), top shelf (hot air rises, stays drier), dining zone, wall opposite the cooking area.
Don't place
On the hood, within 1m of stove, above the sink, on the working counter.
Best species for kitchen
Dry branches (no flowers to damage), wheat (dense grain), eucalyptus (waxy leaves repel grease), dried fruits and spices (oranges, cinnamon, star anise).
Kitchen ikebana
Special trick: mini composition of dried culinary elements — oranges, cinnamon sticks, star anise, bay leaves, rosemary. Looks organic, smells delicious.
Budget reality
Kitchen life expectancy: 6–9 months vs 2–3 years in other rooms. Plan more frequent replacement.
