Lavender at home: benefits, symbolism and how to choose a bouquet

Lavender at home: benefits, symbolism and how to choose a bouquet

Lavender is one of the most popular plants in our catalog, and not just for aesthetics. It works on several levels: color, shape, scent, symbolism.

Where it comes from

True lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) grows in Provence, Spain, the Balkans, and Crimea. What we sell is cut at peak bloom in July and naturally dried for 3 weeks in a ventilated room.

Benefits at home

Scent

Lavender's essential oils calm the nervous system. Clinically confirmed (Lehrner et al., 2005): dental patients showed lower anxiety with lavender in waiting rooms. A bouquet in the bedroom = calmer sleep.

Natural moth repellent

Moths hate lavender. One small bouquet in a clothes closet replaces chemical mothballs — plus it smells good.

Visually

Purple/blue is a rare natural color at home. Most decor is earthy or green tones. Lavender fills exactly that gap.

How to choose

  • Mini (15–20 stems) — nightstand, bathroom, desk.
  • Medium (50–80 stems) — centerpiece.
  • Large sheaf (150+ stems) — floor vase, entrance console.

What to check when buying: stems should be thick and straight; florets should cling firmly; scent should be confidently sweet-herbal.
