Dried flowers in funeral decor: a delicate conversation

Dried flowers in funeral decor: a delicate conversation

This is a delicate topic. For most people "funeral" and "dried flowers" in one sentence feels complicated. But questions get asked, so we answer honestly.

Tradition

In Ukraine fresh flowers at funerals — carnations, roses, chrysanthemums — are the cultural norm. We respect that. Fresh flowers are a "here and now" gesture from the living to the departed.

Where dried flowers fit

  1. Memorial compositions at home — preserve a few flowers from the ceremony before they wilt. We do custom work: bring flowers, we return a framed piece in 2 weeks.
  2. Anniversary grave decor — survives weather longer than fresh cuts.
  3. Near urn at home — no weekly replacement, no wilt smell.
  4. Memory books — pressed flowers, ancient tradition across many cultures.

What we don't do

We don't make dried-flower wreaths for the ceremony itself. Funeral homes do this better and faster.

Emotional angle

"Isn't it strange to use 'dead' flowers?" No. Dried flowers are preserved beauty, not destroyed. In Japanese aesthetics, mono no aware — the pathos of things. Pressed and dried plants fit this tradition of lasting memory, not oblivion.

Need something? Write us — no need to explain. We'll handle it discreetly.
